Performance
Both trucks come with an array of engine options. The GMC Sierra 1500 has a standard TurboMax™ engine that gets 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. The standard engine in the Ford F-150 is a 2.7-liter EcoBoost® V6 that gets 325 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. For more power, the GMC Sierra 1500 can be fitted with either a 5.3-liter or 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8 engine or a 3.0-liter Duramax® Turbo Diesel engine. The Ford F-150 doesn’t have a diesel engine option, but it comes with a variety of available V6 and V8 engines to choose from, one of which is a full hybrid.
The GMC Sierra 1500 comes with a standard eight-speed automatic transmission, but it can be equipped with an available 10-speed automatic transmission with Electronic Precision shift. Both of these GMC transmissions are impressively tough, with Tow/Haul Mode, Powertrain Grade Braking and Cruise Grade Braking for exceptional control on hilly roads. The Ford F-150 comes with a standard electronic 10-speed automatic transmission.
Interior
The interior of the GMC Sierra 1500 can be equipped with premium materials that make every drive luxurious, from available full-grain leather seating upholstery to laser-etched wood trim. These materials can be found in the Denali Ultimate trim, the clear choice for those who want a vehicle that is the pinnacle of luxury. Available heated and ventilated power front seats offer customizable comfort, and with best-in-class Crew Cab front leg and headroom,** you won’t have to worry about feeling cramped.
The Ford F-150 interior can be equipped with similarly luxurious materials, such as available leather upholstery, but it doesn’t feature the unique Denali touches you’ll find in the GMC. You’ll find available heated seats in the F-150, but no seat ventilation. Additionally, the GMC Sierra 1500 has a standard 40/20/40 split-bench front seat with underseat storage in lower trims, but the Ford F-150 doesn’t offer front-row underseat storage.
Utility
You need a truck that works with you, not against you, when you’re loading and unloading. That’s why the GMC Sierra 1500 comes with an available six-function MultiPro Tailgate. This tailgate has a fold-down inner gate that offers closer access to the bed when you need it, and it can also be turned into a full-width step for climbing up to the bed. This smart feature isn’t just useful when you’re securing cargo, but when you’re relaxing, too, since the MultiPro Tailgate can be equipped with an integrated audio system by KICKER®.
In contrast, the Ford F-150 has an available Pro Access Tailgate which swings open two ways, but it doesn’t offer as much functionality as the MultiPro Tailgate.
